Dr. A P J ABDUL KALAAM’S SPEECH

A must read for every Indian.“ I have three visions for India. In 3000 years of our history, people from all over the world have come and invaded us, captured our lands, conquered our minds. From Alexander onwards. The Greeks, the Turks, the Moguls, the Portuguese, the British, the French, the Dutch, all of them came and looted us,took over what was ours. Yet we have not done this to any other nation. We have not conquered anyone. We have not grabbed their land, their culture, their history and tried to enforce our way of life on them. Why?Because we respect the freedom of others. That is why my first vision is that of FREEDOM. I believe that India got its first vision of this in 1857when we started the war of independence. It is this freedom that we must protect and nurture and build on. If we are not free, no one will respect us.My second vision for India is DEVELOPMENT. For fifty years we have been a developing nation. It is time we see ourselves as a developed nation. We are among top 5 nations of the world in terms of GDP. We have 10 percent growth rate in most areas. Our poverty levels are falling. Our achievements are being globally recognized today.Yet we lack the self-confidence to see ourselves as a developed nation, self- reliant and self-assured. Isn’t this incorrect? I have a THIRD vision. India must stand up to the world.Because I believe that, unless India stands up to the world, no one will respect us. Only strength respects strength. We must be strong not only as a military power but also as an economic power. Both must go hand-in-hand. My good fortune was to have worked with three great minds.Dr. Vikram Sarabhai of the Dept. of space, Professor Satish Dhawan, who succeeded him and Dr.Brahm Prakash, father of nuclear material. I was lucky to have worked with all three of them closely and consider this the great opportunity of my life. I see four milestones in my career: Twenty years I spent in ISRO. I was given the opportunity to be the project director for India’s first satellite launch vehicle, SLV3. The one that launched Rohini. These years played a very important role in my life of Scientist. After my ISRO years,I joined DRDO and got a chance to be the part of India’s guided missile program. It was my second bliss when Agni met its mission requirements in 1994. The Dept. of Atomic Energy and DRDO had this tremendous partnership in the recent nuclear tests, on May 11 and 13. This was the third bliss. The joy of participating with my team in these nuclear tests and proving to the world that India can make it, that we are no longer a developing nation but one of them. It made me feel very proud as an Indian. The fact that we have now developed for Agni a re-entry structure, for which we have developed this new material. A Very light material called carbon-carbon. One day an orthopedic surgeon from Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences visited my laboratory. He lifted the material and found it so light that he took me to his hospital and showed me his patients. There were these little girls and boys with heavy metallic calipers weighing over three Kg. each, dragging their feet around. He said to me: Please remove the pain of my patients. In three weeks, we made these floor reaction Orthosis 300-gram calipers and took them to the orthopedic center. The children didn’t believe their eyes. From dragging around a three kg. Load on their legs, they could now move around! Their parents had tears in their eyes. That was my fourth bliss! Why is the media here so negative? Why are we in India so embarrassed to recognize our own strengths, our achievements? We are such a great nation. We have so many amazing success stories but we refuse to acknowledge them. Why? ◘ We are the first in milk production. ◘ We are number one in Remote sensing satellites. ◘ We are the second largest producer of wheat. ◘ We are the second largest producer of rice. Look at Dr. Sudarshan; he has transferred the tribal village into a self-sustaining, self driving unit. There are millions of such achievements but our media is only obsessed in the bad news and failures and disasters. I was in Tel Aviv once and I was reading the Israeli newspaper. It was the day after a lot of attacks and bombardments and deaths had taken place. The Hamas had struck. But the front page of the newspaper had the picture of a Jewish gentleman who in five years had transformed his desert land into an orchid and a granary. It was this inspiring picture that everyone woke up to. The gory details of killings, bombardments, deaths, were inside in the newspaper, buried among other news. In India we only read about death, sickness, terrorism, crime. Why are we so NEGATIVE? Another question: Why are we, as a nation so obsessed with foreign things? We want foreign TVs, we want foreign shirts. We want foreign technology. Why this obsession with everything imported. Do we not realize that self-respect comes with selfreliance? I was in Hyderabad giving this lecture, when a 14 year old girl asked me for my autograph. I asked her what her goal in life is. She replied: I want to live in a developed India. For her, you and I will have to build this developed India. You must proclaim. India is not an under-developed nation; it is a highly developed nation.Do you have 10 minutes? Allow me to come back with a vengeance. Got 10 minutes for your country? If yes, then read;Otherwise, choice is yours. YOU say that our government is inefficient. YOU say that our laws are too old. YOU say that the municipality does not pick up the garbage. YOU say that the phones don’t work; the railways are a joke, The airline is the worst in the world, mails never reach their destination. YOU say that our country has been fed to the dogs and is the absolute pits. YOU say, say and say. Like lazy cowards hounded by our fears we run to America to bask in their glory and praise their system. When New York becomes insecure we run to England. When England experiences unemployment, we take the next flight out to the Gulf. When the Gulf is war struck, we demand to be rescued and brought home by the Indian government. Everybody is out to abuse and rape the country. Nobody thinks of feeding the system. Our conscience is mortgaged to money. Dear Indians, The article is highly thought inductive, calls for a great deal of introspection and pricks one’s conscience too….I am echoing J.F.Kennedy’s words to his fellow Americans to relate to Indians….. “ASK WHAT WE CAN DO FOR INDIA AND DO WHAT HAS TO BE DONE TO MAKE INDIA WHAT AMERICA AND OTHER WESTERN COUNTRIES ARE TODAY”Let’s do what India needs from us. Thank you Dr. A P J Abdul Kalaam Former Honorable President of INDIA. Though following are not my words but it reflects my thoughts.. What do YOU do about it? Take a person on his way to Singapore. Give him a name - YOURS. Give him a face - YOURS. YOU walk out of the airport and you are at your International best. In Singapore you don’t throw cigarette butts on the roads or eat in the stores.YOU are as proud of their Underground Links as they are.You pay $5 (approx. Rs.60) to drive through Orchard Road (equivalent of Mahim Causeway or Peddler Road) between 5 PM and 8 PM. YOU comeback to the parking lot to punch your parking ticket if you have over stayed in a restaurant or a shopping mall irrespective of your status identity. In Singapore you don’t say anything,DO YOU? YOU wouldn’t dare to eat in public during Ramadan, in Dubai. YOU would not dare to go out without your head covered in Jeddah. YOU would not dare to buy an employee of the telephone exchange in London at 10 pounds (Rs.650) a month to, “see to it that my STD and ISD calls are billed to someoneelse.” YOU would not dare to speed beyond 55 mph (88 km/h) in Washington and then tell the traffic cop, “Jaanta hai sala main kaun hoon (Do you know who I am?). I am so and so’s son. Take your two bucks and get lost.”YOU wouldn’t chuck an empty coconut shell anywhere other than the garbage pail on the beaches in Australia and New Zealand. Why don’t YOU spit paan on the streets of Tokyo? Why don’t YOU use examination jockeys or buy fake certificates in Boston? We are still talking of the same YOU. YOU who can respect and conform to a foreign system in other countries but cannot in your own. You who will throw papers and cigarettes on the road the moment you touch Indian ground. If you can be an involved and appreciative citizen in an alien country, why cannot you be the same here in India? Once in an interview, the famous Ex-municipal commissioner of Bombay, Mr.Tinaikar, had a point to make. “Rich people’s dogs are walked on the streets to leave their affluent droppings all over the place,” he said. “And then the same people turn around to criticize and blame the authorities for inefficiency and dirty pavements. What do they expect the officers to do? Go down with a broom every time their dog feels the pressure in his bowels? In America every dog owner has to clean up after his pet has done the job. Same in Japan. Will the Indian citizen do that here?” He’s right. We go to the polls to choose a government and after that forfeit all responsibility. We sit back wanting to be pampered and expect the government to do everything for us whilst our contribution is totally negative. We expect the government to clean up but we are not going to stop chucking garbage all over the place nor are we going to stop to pick up a stray piece of paper and throw it in the bin. We expect the railways to provide clean bathrooms but we are not going to learn the proper use of bathrooms. We want Indian Airlines and Air India to provide the best of food and toiletries but we are not going to stop pilfering at the least opportunity. This applies even to the staff who is known not to pass on the service to the public. When it comes to burning social issues Like those related to women, dowry, girl child and others, we make loud drawing room protestations and continue to do the reverse at home. Our excuse? “It’s the whole system which has to change, how will it matter if I alone forego my sons’ rights to a dowry.” So Who is going to change the system? What does a system consist of? Very conveniently for us it consists of our neighbors, other households, other cities, other communities and the government. But definitely not me and YOU. When it comes to us actually making a positive contribution to the system we lock ourselves along with our families into a safe cocoon and look into the distance at countries far away and wait for a Mr. Clean to come along & work miracles for us with a majestic sweep of his hand or we leave the country and run away. SO take the initiative! never think about people and what will they think about u whenever you try to do positive things! .............Parik....

What is Hinduism for Me?

In Vedanta, which is the crest jewel of Hindu philosophy, the highest ideal is self-realisation.This involves joining the spark of divinity within us, the atman, with the divinity that pervades the entire universe, the Brahmn.

There are many methodologies for achieving this, classed under the generic term yoga,A word from the same root as the English word yoke, and involves joining the atman and the Brahmn or, in Semitic terms, God Immanent and God Transcendent.

There are four main paths of yoga-jnana yoga, the way of wisdom; bhakti yoga, the way of devotion; karma yoga, the way of dedicated work and raja yoga, the way of psycho-spiritual practice.

While there are hundreds of different paths to the divine, the Rig Veda says:
”The truth is one, the wise call it by many names.” The Upanishads in particular are the pre-eminent structures in Hinduism because they contain illuminating expressions of multifaceted truths by realized souls, the rishis. These verses are full of ecstatic glimpses into the divine, about Self-Realisation.

One short piece, the wisdom of Shandilya, From the Chandogya Upanishad brings out the essence of self-realisation:”This universe comes forth from Brahmn. Verily all is Brahmn.”

It goes on to say.” A person is what his deep desire is. It is our deepest desire in this life that shapes the life to come. So let us direct our deepest desires to realize the self.

“The self, that can be realized by the pure in heart, is life, light, space, gives rise to all works, desires, odours and all tastes, is beyond words, is joy abiding. This is the self dwelling in my heart.

“Smaller than a grain of rice, smaller than a grain of barley, smaller than a mustard seed, smaller that the kernel of a grain of millet is the self. This is the self dwelling in my heart, greater than the earth, greater than the sky, greater than all the worlds,

“This self that gives rise to all works, desires, odours.and all tastes, pervades the universe, is beyond words, is joy abiding, is ever present in my heart, is Brahmn indeed. To him I shall attain when my ego dies. So said Shandilya, so said Shandilya”.
As the self resides in all beings, there is really no scope in Vedanta for discrimination on the basis of birthplace, religion, caste, classs, gender or economic status. True, such discrimination based on an inequitable caste hierarchy has been part of Hindu society for centuries, but all Hindu reformers and spiritual leaders have roundly condemned such restrictive practice. Whether it was Raja Rammohan Roy in Bengal, Ranade and Bhandarkar in Maharashtra, or Swami Dayanand Saraswati in Punjab, They all sought to remove the restrictive aspects of Hindu society to return to the principles of Vedanta.

Vivekananda and his brother monks Ramana Maharshi and Aurobindo had no room in their soaring philosophies for the ridiculous taboos based on caste discrimination. Indeed, in the global society towards which we hurtling astride the irreversible arrow of time, what is needed is an inclusive philosophy that cuts across all the artificial barriers that divide human beings and prevent them from becoming what the Vedanta calls the world as family –“Vasudhaiva kutumbakam”.

A whole new world…

I can show you the world shining, shimmering,
Splendid tell me, princess.
Now when did you last let your heart decide?

I can open your eyes take you wonder-by-wonder over,
Sideways and under on a magic carpet ride.

A whole new world A new fantastic point of view
No one to tell us no or where to go
Or say we are only dreaming.

A whole new world a dazzling place I never knew
But when I’m way up here that now
I’m in a whole new world new world with you.

A whole new world don’t you dare close your eye’s
a hundred thousand things to see hold
Your breath- it gets better

I’m like a shooting star I’ve come so far
I can’t go back to where I used to be.

A whole new world that’s where we’ll be
A thrilling chase A wondrous place For you and me.

All You Ever Wanted To Know About Love...

Love is a basic emotion, yet you can’t plan to fall in love or create conditions for being in love. It is something over which you have no control. Either you fall in love or you do not. It is ordained. Ramakrishna explains this with the following analogy:” when a huge tidal wave comes, all the little brooks and ditches become full to the brim without any effort or consciousness on their own part”.

However, there are some criteria for judging whether one is in love or not.
The first test is that you do not want exclusive possession of the object of your love. You wish the world to know of your love. You could declare your love from rooftop. And you with to do or say whatever makes the person you love happy.

MK Gandhi said:” Love and exclusive possession can never go together. Theoretically where there is perfect love, there must be perfect non-possession.”

The second test of love is that there can be no bargain. It does not recognize reward or punishment. Love itself is a merit, and itself its own reward. Beyond itself love seeks neither cause nor outcome; the outcome of it is one with the practice of it.

You love something or someone for its own sake and not because you want or desire a favour in return. Love is not a means to some ephemeral or non-ephemeral end, but is an end in itself. Love is not a response to a certain positive situation. You can to on loving. For when you give your love it comes back millions of times more.

The notion of giving is so consequential to love that.” if you do not give it, it goes, it becomes dead, it becomes dead weight on you. It becomes hatred- it turns into its very opposite. It becomes fear, it becomes jealousy, and it becomes possessiveness”

The third test of real love is the annihilation of the ego. It obliterates the distinction between the self and the other by an unconditional surrender to the other; rather it is a total merger, a complete synthesis with the beloved.

In true love the lover and beloved are one. The sense of your own identity and individuality vanishes. The other, therefore, does not place a limit on the lover’s freedom; rather, communion with beloved leads to unbound freedom. It frees us from limits imposed on us by our ahamkara – ego.

The fourth test of real love is that it knows no fear. Fear could be of unfulfilled desires. If your love springs from fear of punishment, or from your desires being fulfilled, then it is no love at all. Love and fear are incompatible, because in love there is no place for desire.

The fifth test of love is that you love what you consider to be the best. Therefore, the beloved person, object, or ideal is unique. It is the highest from the perspective of the lover; from theirs’ perspective it may not be so. For others some other ideal could be higher that this one. But for the lover the beloved is the best.

The sixth test of real love is that the lover does not so much believe in pedantic and powerless reason, which merely argues but is not able to establish a direct contact with the beloved.

The lover gives up the fruitless intellectual groping in the dark, and trusts his own direct contact with the beloved.

The lover gives up the fruitless intellectual groping in the dark, and trusts his own direct experience. He does not give reasons and arguments, nor depends upon inference but depends on direct perception and lived life experience.

The diff. between love marraige and arranged marraige..

It’s a little long, but totally worth reading, especially if your from software industry.

Arranged Marriage
Similar to object oriented programming approach. We first fix the candidate and then try to implement functions on her. The functions are added to supplement the main program. The functions can be added or deleted.

Love Marriage
Resembles procedural programming language. We have some set functions like flirting, going to movies together, making long conversations on phone and then try to fit all functions to the candidate we like.

Arranged Marriage
Requirements are well defined so use of waterfall model is possible

Love Marriage
It is a throwaway type of prototype as client requirements rises with time thus it is a dynamic system and difficult to maintain.

Arranged Marriage
Compatible with hardware (Parents).

Love Marriage
Family system hangs because hardware (called parents) is not responding.

Arranged Marriage
You are a team member under project leader (parents) so they are responsible for successful execution of project Married life.

Love Marriage
You are the project leader so u are responsible for implementation and execution of PROJECT- married life.

Arranged Marriage
All these features are covered in the SRS as required features.

Love Marriage
Client expectations include exciting feature as spouse cooking food, washing clothes etc.

Arranged Marriage
Product is sold on an as is where is basis. Product once sold will not be taken back!

Love Marriage
Acceptance test possible you can try before you Buy.

Arranged Marriage
Arranged Marriage is like Unix... boring n colorless... still extremely reliable n robust.

Love Marriage
Love Marriage is like Windows, beautiful n seductive.... Yet one never knows when it will crash....

Unused features of Nokia 6233...

I'm sure that some nokia 6233 and 6234 mobile users have not fully utilized their mobile phones. Plus, i'm also sure that there are features of your phone that you haven't used or you don't know that you have.

Coz you see most of us just use the phone for calling and sending sms/text message.

Here some not commonly used features of your phone.

1. Open pictures and videos in sequence...

There is a slide show feature in your nokia 6233/6234 for pictures and you can also continuously watch all your videos.

> Open a picture or video > click opetions > click OPEN IN SEQUENCE.

3. As thumb drive / flash disk...

How many of you uses your mobile phone as a flash disk? I'm sure not many..

You could put portable applications in your microSD card like firefox and thunderbird. Just don't forget to always bring with you a card reader/writer.. and also your microSD card reader adapter.

4. Quickly save your message in the draft folder...

This is more of a trick actually, when creating a message, just press the red button (end call button). Your message will automatically be saved in the Drafts folder.

5. Use Playlist...

I'm sure most of you haven't used this or don't even know how to use this. With playlist, you can group your music files and play them in the groups that you specified.

Just use the Nokia Music Manager (bundled on the Nokia PC Suite).

Strength of a Man!

Always try to judge a man with his character and heart, not with his looks and body....and not even how smart is he? .....................these are the thoughts of my friend anuja though following are not her words as she say's but she strongly believes this...............Her kind of boy....

> the strength of a man isn't seen in the width of his shoulders.
> It is seen in the width of his arms that encircle you.

> The strength of a man isn't in the deep tone of his voice.
> It is in the gentle words he whispers.

> The strength of a man isn't how many buddies he has.
> It is how good a buddy he is with his kids.

> The strength of a man isn't in how respected he is at work.
> It is in how respected he is at home.

> The strength of a man isn't in how hard he hits.
> It is in how tender he touches.

> The strength of a man isn't how many women he's Loved by.
> It is in can he be true to one woman.

> The strength of a man isn't in the weight he can lift.
> It is in the burdens he can understand and overcome.

.......oh i must say Anu its a food for thought for all we guys..ha ha ..

A fare deal.....

I read this via Craigslist a long time back and have been thinking of posting it ever since. It’s an original post by a 25 year old woman who couldn’t understand why nobody who worked at Wall Street would date her, even though she was much better looking than their wives/girlfriends. First read her question and then the response that she gets, from one of the investment bankers. It’s a little long, but totally worth it, especially if you enjoy reading Finance jargon.
***

The Girl’s Question:
What am I doing wrong? Okay, I’m tired of beating around the bush. I’m a beautiful (spectacularly beautiful) 25 year old girl. I’m articulate and classy. I’m not from New York. I’m looking to get married to a guy who makes at least half a million a year. I know how that sounds, but keep in mind that a million a year is middle class in New York City, so I don’t think I’m overreaching at all.

Are there any guys who make 500K or more on this board? Any wives? Could you send me some tips? I dated a business man who makes average around 200 - 250. But that’s where I seem to hit a roadblock. 250,000 won’t get me to central park west. I know a woman in my yoga class who was married to an investment banker and lives in Tribeca, and she’s not as pretty as I am, nor is she a great genius. So what is she doing right? How do I get to her level? Here are my questions specifically:
- Where do you single rich men hang out? Give me specifics- bars, restaurants, gyms
- What are you looking for in a mate? Be honest guys, you won’t hurt my feelings
- Is there an age range I should be targeting (I’m 25)?
- Why are some of the women living lavish lifestyles on the upper east side so plain? I’ve seen really ‘plain jane’ boring types who have nothing to offer married to incredibly wealthy guys. I’ve seen drop dead gorgeous girls in singles bars in the east village. What’s the story there?

- Jobs I should look out for? Everyone knows - lawyer, investment banker, doctor. How much do those guys really make? And where do they hang out? Where do the hedge fund guys hang out?
- How you decide marriage vs. just a girlfriend? I am looking for MARRIAGE ONLY
Please hold your insults - I’m putting myself out there in an honest way. Most beautiful women are superficial; at least I’m being up front about it. I wouldn’t be searching for these kind of guys if I wasn’t able to match them - in looks, culture, sophistication, and keeping a nice home and hearth
A Response That Could Not Be Put Any Better:

I read your posting with great interest and have thought meaningfully about your dilemma. I offer the following analysis of your predicament. Firstly, I’m not wasting your time, I qualify as a guy who fits your bill; that is I make more than $500K per year.
That said here’s how I see it.Your offer, from the prospective of a guy like me, is plain and simple a crappy business deal. Here’s why. Cutting through all the B.S., what you suggest is a simple trade: you bring your looks to the party and I bring my money. Fine, simple. But here’s the rub, your looks will fade and my money will likely continue into perpetuity…in fact, it is very likely
that my income increases but it is an absolute certainty that you won’t be getting any more beautiful! So, in economic terms you are a depreciating asset and I am an earning asset. Not only are you a depreciating asset, your depreciation accelerates! Let me explain, you’re 25 now and will likely stay pretty hot for the next 5 years, but less so each year. Then the fade begins in earnest. By 35 stick a fork in you!
So in Wall Street terms, we would call you a trading position, not a buy and hold…hence the rub…marriage. It doesn’t make good business sense to “buy you” (which is what you’re asking) so I’d rather lease. In case you think I’m being cruel, I would say the following. If my money were to go away, so would you, so when your beauty fades I need an out. It’s as simple as that. So a deal that makes sense is dating, not marriage.

Separately, I was taught early in my career about efficient markets. So, I wonder why a girl as “articulate, classy and spectacularly beautiful ” as you has been unable to find your sugar daddy. I find it hard to believe that if you are as gorgeous as you say you are that the $500K hasn’t found you, if not only for a tryout. By the way, you could always find a way to make your own money and then we wouldn’t need to have this difficult conversation.
With all that said, I must say you’re going about it the right way. Classic “pump and dump.” I hope this is helpful, and if you want to enter into some sort of lease, let me know.
[A Round of Applause From Me] so gals who wana cute, rich NRI hubby beware...

The cell phone will however accept another SIM card from the same operator.

All Nokia phones (2110 and newer) have four different SIM locks which can be used to lock the phone for up to 4 different providers. But most phones with restriction only have one lock activated. ( lock 1)
The main code used in Nokia phones is:

#pw+(master code)+Y#

This code is able to check, activate or remove Sim card restriction (SP-lock).

Use the * key to get the p, + and w chars.

Y has to be 1,2,3 or 4 - depending of what lock you what to deal with.

#pw+1234567890+1# for Provider-Lock status
#pw+1234567890+2# for Network-Lock status
#pw+1234567890+3# for Provider(???)-Lock status
#pw+1234567890+4# for SimCard-Lock status

(master code) is a 10 digit code, based on the phones IMEI number.
(I can NOT give you the master code SO DON T ASK ME FOR IT! )

Please click here to learn more about how to obtain mastercode and find out the lock status of your phone

eq. To remove restriction on lock 1 type following code:

#pw+(master code)+1#

If you just want to check your phone use 10 random numbers Eg. 1234567890 as the (master code)

eq. To check if phone if restricted on lock 1 type the following code:

#pw+1234567890+1#

Please NOTE that these codes could be used with care!
A user told me that it s only possible to type in about 3 different codes on each lock! Then something bad will happen ..therefore be careful!

How can I check what locks have my phone closed?
There is 2 methods:

Use winlock to see the state of the locks, pressing Read Info. The Counter is the number of times that you have tried unlock your phone using an incorrect master code.
You can check it entering an imaginary mastercode on your phone but, it s not recommended because if you try enter a code 5 times your phone will not work anymore. By example, if you press at your phone #pw+1234567890+2# (note that # , p , w and + characters must be selected from * key) and your phone give you Code Error then your phone have lock 2 closed, if you get the message SIM Restriction Off your phone have lock 2 opened.
Look the table above to see how can check all locks:

Lock number Description Sequence to Check
1 Provider Lock #pw+1234567890+1#
2 Network-Lock #pw+1234567890+2#
3 Another Provider Lock #pw+1234567890+3#
4 SIM Card Lock #pw+1234567890+4#
---------------------------------------------------------

The phone now says: PIN CODE CHANGED (or ACCEPTED)
and the SIM card is accepted until you restart the phone again.

update:
There s another Nokia service provider lock generator for DOS (somehere on the net) called 5161un.zip (for Nokia 51xx-61xx models) This program uses the #pw+(master code)+1# code to unlock the phone. With this software you need to have a access to the eeprom..

How to open lock 1 and 4?

You will need Winlock software and MBUS cable to do this. Winlock is a Nokia service program that you can use to open lock 1 and 4, really you are closing locks when you do that, but when you write ????? at MCC+MNC and MSIN text box, the phone don t understand it and consider that it s open.

That trick only works for lock 1 and 4, but not for lock 2 and 3. If you did not know your lock type, please read our miscellaneous tips page first. or read at above section in this page.

Install winlock 1.10
Connect your MBUS nokia data cable
Run Winlock
Push Read Phone, if you have Lock 2 or Lock 3 closed you can not open your phone, but you can try change Lock 2.
Select State Close in Lock 1 and Lock 4, fill out MCC+MNC and MSIN text boxes with ??????? and Push Close Locks.
Now you can use any operator card in your phone. If you get any error when you do that do the following steps:
Select State Automatic in Lock 1 and Lock 4 and change type to User in Lock 1 and Lock 4, fill out MCC+MNC and MSIN text boxes with ?????????? and Push Close Locks.
Select State Automatic in Lock 1 and Lock 4 and change type to Factory in Lock 1 and Lock 4, fill out MCC+MNC and MSIN text boxes with ?????????? and Push Close Locks.
If you continue getting errors you must turn off your phone and reset computer and try again.

How to open lock 2?

When operators companies close lock2 you can only use the contract or prepaid card for this operator, but you can use another operator company prepaid card if you know what GID1 must write.

Install Winlock
Run Winlock
Configure Winlock. Select menu Winlock->Defaults and change GID byte count to 2.
Push Read Phone, and write down GID1 info that appear in lock 2.
Insert the prepaid card from a different operator company.
We must find out a the GID1 info adecuate for our new prepaid or contract card, take a look at our GID1 list and check if your operator and SIM card type is included, if not try to get a phone that have lock 2 closed and have the SIM card type that you want to use in your phone, and read GID1 info with winlock. You can try to write the most used GID1 codes like 0000,10FF,01FF, or FFFF, etc.
Change Lock 2 Type from User To Factory or from Factory to User.
Push Close Locks
Your phone will be reset every time you push Close Locks, if your card is not acepted the GID1 is not correct, repeat from step 4 until you find the correct GID1.
If you get error you must turn off your phone and reset computer and try again.
If you want your phone accept your original prepaid card write in GID1 the code you read at step 2 and close locks.
Exist a GID1 list?

In addition to the official way to open locks that Nokia service centers use with TDB4 or TDF-4(for WinTesla) security boxes, there is two secrets methods:

Opening the phone and adding a chip inside phone motherboard. But you will loose any warranty of your phone.
Using a special software with a MBUS Nokia cable. I don t have this software. Please don t bother me asking me about that. The only thing i know about that is that a friend is removing lock 2 using a special software. He don t make this for money, only for fun.

Enhanced Full Rate Codec (EFR)
Enhanced Full Rate will give you much better sound quality when you enable it. The new Enhanced Full Rate CODEC adopted by GSM uses the ASELP (AlgebraicCode Excitation Linear Prediction) compression technology. This technology allows for much great voice quality in the same number of bits as the older Full Rate CODEC. The older technology was called LPC-RPE (Linear Prediction Coding with Regular Pulse Excitation). Both operate at 13 kilobits.(but you take up more space on the network, so they can charge you more)

*3370# and EFR will be activated after a reboot of the phone ( consumes more power )

#3370#
and EFR will be switched off after a reboot of the phone.
---------------------------------------------------------

Half Rate Codec (HR)
Half Rate will give you bad sound quality, which gives the service provider the opportunity to have more calls on the network; and you might get a lower charge from them. (Will give you 30% longer talk-time)
*4720# Half Rate coded will be activated after a reboot of the phone ( better standby time )

#4720# Half Rate coded will be de-activated after a reboot of the phone
---------------------------------------------------------

Unblocking Code
Unblock PIN1 : **05*PUK*newPIN1*newPIN1#@
UnBlock PIN2 : **052*PUK2*newPIN2*newPIN2#@
---------------------------------------------------------

Hiding your phone number
Dial 141 then the number you want to call eg. 141#######
This should stop your number been sent to the caller. (*)
(*) This only works on UK phones, if anybody has tried this and works, please let me know.
